Handmade Paper Bead Jewelry

Purpose
Thank you for your interest in my custom paper bead jewelry. As an artist, I use drawing, printmaking, painting, beading, ceramics, and found objects to translate ideas, nature, emotions, and life experiences into beautiful and meaningful artworks. Inspired by recycled art and African beading traditions, I create unique handmade beaded necklaces, bracelets, earrings, anklets, keychains, and reading glasses holders using recycled paper beads. "Beadles Remix" calls attention to the recycled nature of my jewelry and the origin of each piece's title, as well as pays homage to one of the greatest Rock and Roll bands in history!
Process
I select all of my papers from magazines, advertisements, and used wrapping paper that would otherwise be discarded in order to give these materials new life. Each piece of brilliantly colored paper results in a work of art--carefully cut, hand-rolled, and sealed with water-based clear gloss paint. I arrange paper beads in one-of-a-kind jewelry pieces with attention to color, pattern, visual texture, balance, and symmetry. The repetative nature of rolling paper beads frees my imagination to explore how every bead may be used. Each bead is an essential building block that inspires endless design possibilities for the final artwork. When each piece is complete, I refer to ancient, modern, and contemporary artists' works to inspire a title that has meaning, invokes curiosity, and invites viewers to bring their own meaning to each piece.
Silver lobster clasps, various semiprecious stone and glass beads, and my sterling silver signature accompany each finely crafted piece. My paper bead jewelry is water resistant...not waterproof!
